About Meredith

Good day bloggers!  I suppose what you read on my blog has little credibility if you don’t know where it’s coming from, right?  Fair enough.  A little introduction about me, Meredith.

I was raised, and currently live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, more specifically, an hour north of Seattle.  Central Washington was my home for 5 years while I obtained my degree in Education with an endorsement in Reading, and a minor in Non-verbal Communication.  Teaching for  the same city where I spent my precious “wonder years”, I taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grade Highly Capable students for 6 years.  I also worked as advisor for the Student Council and Geography Club, headed 2 book clubs and served on the School Improvement Team (SIT).  It was a great job, with terrific benefits.  I really enjoyed teaching those kids.

Soon, it was time for a change, and I decided to teach “big kids”.  I worked my way through one learning solutions company in Seattle, but soon found myself happy as an Instructional Designer for The Mosaic Company.  I’ve travelled for them, consulting with primarily utility companies for more than a year spending time in Hawaii, California, Nova Scotia, Oklahoma and Texas.  I help design, develop and deliver training solutions for ERTs and BRTs across the US and Canada.  Learning so much in my first year as an ID, I decided there was much more to learn, so I am currently working toward my Masters in Instructional Design and Technology through Walden University.

A few interesting facts about me: In my spare time, I make and sell hula hoops.  I was the first person to hula hoop on Alcatraz Island, the Dole Pineapple Plantation – Oahu, and the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit).  My favorite author is Tom Robbins, who lives a few hours north of me and I’m determined to meet someday.  My brother is an artist with experience in set and costume design, sketching, painting, concept design, sculpting, and special effects make-up.  He interned a year in the Shakespeare Theatre Costume shop in Washington, D.C., got his MA from the University of Washington, helped with a privately funded Star Trek series being made in Seattle, and currently lives and works in LA.  His special effects can be seen at the Universal Studios Fright Nights.
